"Caught In the Web: social media tools for youth" is a youth exchange that gathered 42 participants from Slovakia, Latvia, Ukraine, Italy, Moldova and Georgia. The youth exchange was held in Lviv for 7 days. The aim of this yourh exchange was to foster the use of the Social Media and other new technologies in an effective and safety way to promote active participation and help social inclusion.
During the project all the participants had a great opportunity to explore social media and other useful tools for maintaining partnerships, developing innovative solutions to improve the abilities of the youngsters at a personal and professional level. Anyone could share his or hers own experience with social networks and safety rules.
All this topics were tackled through the use of non formal and informal education, in activities like icebreakers, games, theater, role plays, brainstormings and many others! It helped not only to explain and understand the new information more effective but also made us closer to each other. We communicated a lot, exchanged our thoughts and views, learn new things and have fun in the same time!
For every activity we were divided into groups and then worked together on task. First we usually brainstormed ideas and then made some charts, quizzes, presentations to share team's point of view on different aspects of social media. One day all the participants were asked to make interviews with local people ( youngsters and also elder people) to find out their attitude for social media. In the beginning every team made up some questions and then we went to the city centre to complete the task. Then every team could summarize all the answers and present their study to other groups. It was surprising to know some poits of view of Ukrainians which are completely different in other European countries.
On the last day of the youth exchange a participant from Latvia, Ieva, prepared a presentation about ERASMUS+ programm, so everyone could learn something new about other youth exchanges, trainings, EVS projects, the main objective of ERASMUS+ and all the opportunities this programm gives to active youth. Thank you, Ieva!
And of course everyone enjoyed the intercultural evening where we could learn new facts about Latvia, Slovakia, Georgia, Moldova, Italy and Ukraine and also taste some national food. Slovakian team also taught us some moves of their traditioanal dance! It was fun and fascinating!
The youth exchange "Caught in the web" was a really great opportunity not only to meet new people from different countries but was also great for improving our teamworking skills. It gave us lots of useful information about social media tools for youth and how we can use them for promotion of our future projects more effectively.
